2017 DOMAINE CHIGNARD FLEURIE LES MORIERS, BEAUJOLAIS FRANCE

Les Moriers is named after the mulberry tree which used to dominate the plantings in the area. This is aged in a combination of large old foudres, concrete tank and stainless steel. The grapes were hand-harvested. Even after many successful years practicing his craft, fourth-generation vigneron Michel Chignard claims to be a novice. He is a modest man, kind and courteous, but in every aspect of his winemaking one clearly sees a passionate perfectionist. Today, his son, Cédric is managing the domaine.
