Sicilian wines have been getting lots of attention in recent years, but they're not the easiest to find. This one is very good, but there's a caveat. For an everyday red, it's perfect. This is not an uber complex wine, but it's enjoyable for it's purity and simplicity. Nero d'Avola is at home in Sicily, it's like hot, arid places, with the best examples coming from volcanic soils. This one is from organic vineyards. It's medium deep in color, it smells a bit like roasted coffee, there's red fruit and enough weight to grab your attention. It'll benefit from some aeration prior to drinking it. Since it's super young, it'll hold up into day two with no issues. Serve with pasta, pizza or simple grilled dishes.
