This ancient property, situated in the Alentejo region of Southern Portugal can trace its wine producing roots back to the Bronze Age. During the Roman occupation, the wines of Esporao were exported throughout the empire. The current boundaries of the estate were established in 1267 and at the heart of the property is the Tower of Esporão built between 1457 and 1490. Today the wine-making is under the auspices of Australian born David Baverstock, which lends a more international style to the wines.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with native Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira, this is a dark and deep red from David Baverstock. Silky and elegant with red berried fruits, rich and complex with well integrated new oak, 12 months in 70% American oak and 30% French oak barrels.
