Paisajes Cecias comes from a 2.4 ha planted with a fantastic 85-year-old. A lovely, medium-deep garnet colour. The nose is fresh and bright with ripe black fruit, such as figs, together with a touch of pepper. Body and structure on the palate with a fine-grained texture and fluid tannins which are nevertheless present from beginning to end. The mouth-feel is fleshy, fresh yet ripe, with a wonderful aromatic finish of just ripe fruit. Good length and very flavoursome. Country: Spain Region: Rioja Producer: Paisajes y Vinedos Grape Variety: 100% Garnacha Tasting Notes: "Perhaps the warmer vintages benefit Garnacha as it is a grape that likes heat more than Tempranillo, especially in Rioja Baja where the Cecias vineyard is. This is evident in the 2011 Cecias, a bright ruby-coloured wine that is a little darker than your average Garnacha. Ot opens to a subtle and harmonious nose of red and black fruit accented by nicely integrated wood. The juicy palate is polished and soft, more Garnacha than in the nose, and has a slightly warm finish. Somehow I like this 2011 better than the 2012. 5,080 bottles and 100 magnums produced.
