In 1976, Clos des Nugues was bought by Gérard Gelin, son and grandson of wine grower. Then he gave him the name Domaine des Nugues. Then his son, Gilles joined him in 2000 and it is in 2008 that Magali, his wife, came to join him. The vineyard of 36 ha is situated in the North of Beaujolais, in limit of vineyards Moulin à VentFleurie and MorgonDomaine des Nugues uses only two vines: Gamay Noir for red wines and the Chardonnay for white wines.
The vines are about 45 years old at Domaine des Nugues and some more than a century old, this gives a very special terroir impression to the proposed cuvées. Other principles followed to the letter by Gilles Gelin, such as the manual harvest of grapes and the scrupulous monitoring of temperatures and densities in the vats, allow the production of great wines from Beaujolais. The tastings are also daily ensuring an optimal know-how and winemaking techniques in Nugues: direct pressing at low temperature for whites and rosés, maceration for reds.
