2017 DON BERNARDINO AMANDI, RIBEIRA SACRA, SPAIN

Don Bernardino is located in Ribeira Sacra, a region in Galicía, Spain, known for its dizzying steep slopes of vines. In the 1950's, Bernardino Rodriguez came to Amandi — the most celebrated sub-zone of the region — and resurrected his family's vineyards. In the 1990's, his son Emilio took over the estate, continuing the back-breaking work in the vineyards and cellar. Throughout this time, the plantings of the region's noble grape variety, Mencía, was increased. The quality of Bernardino's wines are exceptional with wonderful intensity of fruit, mineral and earth flavors.
